The agno-agi organization published release v3.1.3 of agno-agi/agno on GitHub on October 12, 2026. According to the release notes, nearly every change targets Agno's external agents, the ClaudeAgent and CodexAgent classes. They gain durable sessions, background runs, retries, metrics and structured output, and the release also adds a new AnakinTools toolkit.

What changed
- Durable Claude sessions. The release notes say
ClaudeAgentsessions now resume on any replica. The Claude SDK session id is stored on the Agno session. With a database that supports transcript storage, every transcript line is copied into a newagno_transcriptstable, so a later turn on another machine resumes from the database instead of a local file. - Background runs and cancellation.
ClaudeAgentandCodexAgentacceptbackground=True. They get durable-queue run ids, resumable indexed SSE and cancellation through/agents/{id}/runs/{run_id}/cancel, and they share the background task, slot and event-stream infrastructure that native agents use. - Retries. Both classes take
retries,delay_between_retriesandexponential_backoff. A failed attempt is retried under the same run id and resumes the SDK session or Codex thread it started. - Step replay for ClaudeAgent.
continue_runtakescontinue_from,forkandinput. Each tool result is a checkpoint listed byGET /agents/{id}/runs/{run_id}/checkpoints. Continuing a finished run creates a new sibling run instead of rewriting the original. - Metrics. Runs report tokens, cache usage and cost (cost for Claude only) on
RunOutput.metrics, along withdurationandtime_to_first_token. Completed runs add up into session metrics that AgentOS displays. - Also listed: structured output through
output_schema(a Pydantic model or a JSON Schema dict), image and file attachments, compaction, replay of stored events, SDK labels on the session APIs, and AnakinTools for Anakin.io's scrape, crawl, map and search APIs.
Questions
Which databases support resuming Claude sessions across replicas?
The release notes name PostgresDb, AsyncPostgresDb, SqliteDb and AsyncSqliteDb as databases that support transcript storage. If a stored session cannot be resumed, Agno starts a fresh SDK session seeded with the Agno history.
Which failures are not retried?
According to the release notes, limits are not retried: max_turns, max_budget_usd, and Codex budget and usage limits. Permanent errors are not retried either: authentication, billing, bad requests, context window and policy errors. Streaming consumers receive a type: "retry" warning event between attempts.
Can external agents take audio or video?
No. The release notes say images and files can be attached to ClaudeAgent and CodexAgent runs, but audio and video are rejected with a 400 error instead of a server error.

Questions
What is Agno?
According to its documentation, Agno helps companies run agents as a service. You build agents with the Agno SDK, Claude Agent SDK, Codex SDK or another supported framework. Agno then runs them as a service with durable execution and multi-replica scaling, exposed through a REST API and an MCP server.
Is Agno open source?
The GitHub API reports the Apache-2.0 license for the agno-agi/agno repository. The cited sources do not give pricing for any hosted offering.
Does Agno support MCP?
Yes. The documentation says Agno exposes agents through a REST API and an MCP server, which lets you make a product available in AI apps such as Claude and ChatGPT. The docs can also be given to coding agents through MCP.
