On February 24, 2026, Mastra announced Mastra Code, a terminal coding agent. The post's claim is that observational memory watches the conversation, writes observations, and compresses context without the usual compaction pass that drops details. Threads, messages, token data, and that memory sit in SQLite on your machine via LibSQL, so the stored session stays local.
The agent has a plan mode for research and a build mode for execution. Mastra says it is built from Mastra's own Agent, Memory, Workspace, Tools, Model Router, and MCP primitives; a terminal UI from pi-tui; and ast-grep for structured edits instead of a chain of search-and-replace calls. You install it and run it in the terminal. There is no editor plugin required.
The post does not quote a model price. The later extraction of the loop is Agent Controller. The hub is Mastra.
